IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University baseball team opened Pacific West Conference action Friday with their first road trip of the 2026 season.
The Silverswords got solid pitching but ultimately dropped both games of their twin bill against Concordia University Irvine by 4-1 and 4-0 counts at Golden Eagles Field.
Game 1: CUI 4, CUH 1
CUI plated single runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth innings with the 'Swords getting their only run of the game on a sacrifice fly by
Brayden Braga (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley) in the eighth.
Starter
Chris Cody (Orange, Calif./Irvine Valley College/El Modena HS) went 5 2/3 innings, scattering six hits while striking out six in allowing four runs in taking the loss.
Kyle Seo (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento City College/Inderkum HS) did not allow a hit in the final 2 1/3 frames.
Bode Poler (Montesano, Wash./Gonzaga University/Montesano HS) had a double, one of CUH's four hits in the matinee.
Shane Timmons got the win for the Golden Eagles.
Game 2: CUI 4, CUH 0 (7 inn.)
Chaminade's first four batters in the lineup card combined for five of their six hits but couldn't group them together to get them on the scoreboard in the seven-inning nightcap.
Ace Perry (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/University),
Alex Hamada (Aliso Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel), Poler and
Cade Fujii (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Porterville College/Kapolei HS) all got knocks with Fujii getting a pair of hits. Braga had the other hit.
The Golden Eagles scored twice in the first and third innings off
Anthony O'Canas (Woodland, Calif./American River College/Woodland HS), although two of those runs were unearned.
Neville Till (Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma) got the final four outs and did not allow a baserunner.
Matthew Kaiser got the win for Concordia.
The Silverswords (2-5, 0-2 PacWest) and Golden Eagles (4-6, 2-0 PacWest) will wrap up their series on Saturday with a nine- and seven-inning twin bill, set for 11 a.m. Hawai'i time.
