HONOLULU – The Chaminade University softball team made the 2026 home debut on Saturday, splitting their doubleheader against Cal Poly Humboldt which also netted them their first win of the season.
The Silverswords dropped the opener, 8-2, but managed the split with a 9-5 win in the nightcap.

Mikala Jacobsen (Buena Park, Calif./Cypress College/Cypress HS) and
Vanessa Pena (Paramount, Calif./Paramount) had three each for the Silverswords (1-8).
Game 1: HUM 8, CUH 2
On Friday, the Lumberjacks struck early and often, plating six runs against Hawai'i Pacific University in the opening game. In a carbon copy, Humboldt plated seven runs in the first inning against the 'Swords.
Freshman
Kayden Lopez (Bakersfield, Calif./Garces Memorial), summoned from the bullpen, helped settle the team down in the circle, allowing just one run in the final 5 2/3 frames.
Trailing 8-0 in the bottom of the fifth and facing a fifth straight run-rule ending, Chaminade loaded the bases with one out. A Jacks' error brought Jacobsen in to take the mercy rule off the table.
Miranda Diaz (Whittier, Calif./Cerritos College/California HS) would bring Peña in for the 'Swords' second run later in the inning.
Peña took the loss but was also the only Silversword with a multi-hit game with two.
Lily Fornier got the win for Cal Poly Humboldt.
Game 2: CUH 9, HUM 5
Unlike the matinee, Chaminade was the first to capitalize with Buck's RBI triple followed by a Diaz sacrifice fly.
The Silverswords plated three more in the third via an RBI groundout from
Alena Frost (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle),
Taneia Simanu (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) coming in on a throwing error and Buck's second RBI of the game on a double.
Sunni Kahanu (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/University of Hawai'i/Mililani HS) got Chaminade's sixth run, scoring on another Jacks' error then Buck drove in her third run in the fourth on her second two-bagger and third knock of the game.
A four-run fifth drew Cal Poly Humboldt to within 7-5 but CUH answered in its half of the frame on an RBI knock from Jacobsen while Simanu scampered home on a wild pitch.
Kamryn Lopez (Bakersfield, Calif./Garces Memorial) shut the door on Humboldt, tossing the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing starter
Bailey Benson (Cheney, Wash./Gonzaga Preparatory) to get her first win of the season.
Siona Halwani got the loss for the Lumberjacks (5-9).
The Silverswords open Pacific West Conference action Saturday when they travel to the Big Island to face the University of Hawai'i Hilo. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 12 p.m.
