Men’s Hoops Downed by Jessup in Season Finale

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's basketball team wrapped up the 2025-26 season Saturday with a 93-80 defeat to Jessup University at Warrior Arena.

Nathan Medina (Long Beach, Calif./Biola University/Valley Christian HS), one of eight Silverswords playing their final collegiate game, went off for 26 points, making 11 shots including four from 3-point range, while also dishing out five assists.

Fellow senior Kent King (Washington, D.C./Vincennes University/Fork Union Military Academy) hit a career-high five from behind the arc to finish with 18 points while twin brother Kris King (Washington, D.C./Vincennes University/Fork Union Military Academy) chipping in with nine points and four steals. Roland Banks II (Bakersfield, Calif./Fullerton College/Cathedral HS) had nine points and three thefts in the loss.

Fletcher MacDonald (Wollongong, Australia/Lubbock Christian Univ./Newington College HS) pulled down 11 rebounds in his final game with Brandon Haddock (Southlake, Texas/University of Utah/Carroll HS) also putting eight in the scorebook in his college finale.

Brycen Shackelford (Folsom, Calif./Folsom), the team's lone four-year senior, had two points and five rebounds while the team's eighth senior, Mykiah Wyche (San Jose, Calif./Foothill College/Piedmont Hills HS), saw seven minutes of action.

The loss ended Chaminade's season at 13-15 and 11-11 in the Pacific West Conference. Entering the final day of the regular season, the 'Swords' postseason hopes required a win plus losses from Vanguard and Concordia to secure a PacWest Tournament bid. Instead, they are on the outside looking in for the fourth straight year.

Cayden McDaniel led Jessup (15-13, 12-10 PacWest) with 22 points.

After a brief 5-2 lead, the game got away early as Chaminade went scoreless during a six-minute span where the Warriors scored 20 straight before Haddock's triple ended their drought.

Trailing by as many as 25, the Silverswords cut the deficit to 58-50 with 14 minutes left but the Warriors built their lead back to double digits and CUH never got closer than 11 the rest of the game.

Chaminade shot 43.9 percent in the finale, making 10 3-pointers, 12 free throws with 32 rebounds, 15 assists and 12 steals.

Jessup shot at a 53 percent clip with nine 3s, 14-of-23 free throws, 46 boards, 23 assists to 18 turnovers.
