ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team concluded the Central Washington Invitational on Saturday with a 25-23, 25-22-, 18-25, 25-7 defeat to the host Wildcats at Nicholson Arena.

Tabby Allen (Leander, Texas/Rouse) put down a team-high 11 kills while Lillie Hinton (Spicewood, Texas/Lake Travis) added another 10 for the Silverswords who finished with a 1-2 mark in the tournament. They are 2-4 overall.

Lilinoe Paschoal (Paukukalo, Maui, Hawai'i/Baldwin) collected a 26-assist, 12-dig double-double while Kyra Pagud (Honolulu/Moanalua) had 20 digs.

Corinne Westby and Ellie Marble each had 14 kills for Central Washington (3-0), which is ranked just outside of the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll.

The theme of the afternoon was the 'Swords not being able to sustain leads. They had 13-7 leads in the first two sets before CWU mounted comebacks to take a two-set lead.

The 'Swords were finally able to protect a lead in the third set, using an 11-2 surge early in the frame to capture the frame.

But CUH committed nine attack errors in the fourth set to help the Wildcats take the final set and match.

The 'Swords hit .084 in the match with 42 kills, 38 assists, 57 digs, four total team blocks and eight service aces, five from Malena Mihalik (Santa Fe, Argentina/San Eugenio).

The Wildcats had a .230 percentage with 48 kills, 44 assists, 64 digs and 14 total team blocks.

The Silverswords will open their home slate next weekend when they and Hawai'i Pacific University co-host the Hawai'i Challenge at McCabe Gymnasium and The Shark Tank. Chaminade opens with a pair of matches on Thursday starting with Saint Martin's at noon and Western Colorado at 6 p.m.

Friday and Saturday will see three matches per day which includes Hawai'i Hilo, Emmanuel, Western Oregon and Seattle Pacific visiting McCabe Gym.
