WAIPAHU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – Saturday's Hawai'i Pacific University Invitational men's and women's cross country races at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park have been canceled due to the approach of Hurricane Nolo.
The National Weather Service on Friday morning placed the western part of the state, which includes O'ahu, under a wind advisory which begins at 6 a.m. Saturday. The first event, which was the men's race, was projected to start just under two hours later.
Rain along with winds from 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph are projected for O'ahu on Saturday.
A replacement event has not been announced.
The next race is the Chaminade Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Kapiolani Park.
