LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's soccer team continued their Southern California road trip at Biola University where the Silverswords suffered a 5-1 setback to the Eagles at Al Barbour Field.
Oliver Horgan (Reno, Nev./Cal Poly Humboldt/Galena HS) got Chaminade's lone goal of the contest, his first of the season.
The 'Swords (0-8, 0-2 Pacific West Conference) took six shots, all from their starters. Horgan and
Santiago Fernandez (Orlando, Fla./Westminster College (PA)/Freedom HS) had the team's two shots on-goal.
Also getting looks at the net were
Kawainui Anderson (Kailua, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama),
Chara Iniestra (Escondido, Calif./MiraCosta College/San Pasqual HS),
Mykah Harris (Fife, Wash./Utah Valley University/Fife HS) and
Chance Therrien (Charlotte, Vt./University of St. Thomas/Champlain Valley Union HS).
James Boudiette (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) got the start in front of the net and made four saves.
Horgan's score, which tied it at 1, came off a corner kick in the 54th minute when the ball was missed by an Eagle defender and a 'Swords attacker, trickled back to Horgan who blasted it from 19 yards out for his second career goal and first since 2023. Fernandez, who took the corner, got his second assist.
But the Eagles (1-5-2, 1-0 PacWest) roared back with four unanswered scores to give the 'Swords their second loss in as many games on their current road trip. Kyle Denn scored three goals for the hat trick.
Biola attempted 16 shots in all, nine on target, although CUH had a 4-to-3 edge in corner kicks.
The SoCal road trip continues Tuesday at Concordia University Irvine with a 3:30 p.m. Hawai'i time start.
