IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team continued their Southern California road trip Tuesday with a date against perennial Pacific West Conference power Concordia University Irvine.

The Silverswords struck first courtesy of Emmerson Peller (Broomfield, Colo./University of North Dakota/Broomfield HS) in the first half before the Golden Eagles countered with two in the second 45 minutes.

The 'Swords fell to 0-9-1 and 0-3 in the PacWest while CUI, picked to finish second in the conference preseason coaches poll, improved to 4-1-4 and 1-0-1.

Chaminade broke open the scoreless tie in the 34th minute when Kenna Kiefer (Vail, Ariz./Cienega) crossed a long right-to-left crossing pass over the defense to Peller who gathered the ball in from eight yards out and found an open space in lower right corner for her first career goal.

Kiefer collected her second assist of the season while it was also the fourth of her career, moving her into a five-way tie for second, just one behind current 'Swords assistant Savannah Miranda and Cailla Fabro, who co-own the career assists lead.

In the 56th minute, CUI won a successful challenge of a foul inside the CUH box, resulting in a goal-scoring penalty kick which knotted the game.

The Golden Eagles would get the go-ahead score in the 76th minute by Ashley Grubert.

The 'Swords were held to three shots, two taken by Milan Cordone (Las Vegas/University of Northern Iowa/Coronado HS) while Peller's goal was the other.

Sydney Bakritzes (Edina, Minn./University of North Dakota/Edina HS) made one save while facing 11 total shots, nine in the final 45 minutes.

Christina Sidoti also had one save in goal for Concordia.

The Silverswords will conclude their SoCal trip on Thursday at Vanguard University.
