Biography
Career: Ended her career with 739 kills (2.25 kps), 110 total blocks (14 block solos, 96 block assists), 524 digs and 43 service aces ... had 844 career points (2.57 points per set) ... played in all 95 Silversword matches in her career.
2013: Played in all 25 matches, starting eight ... saw 73-match start start streak end on Sept. 6 ... finished third on the team with 164 kills, averaging 1.98 kps ... had 49 digs and 20 total blocks ... averaged 2.10 points per set ... put down a season-high 13 kills at Hawai'i Pacific (Oct. 12) ... hit .421 (11-3-19) in a win over Notre Dame de Namur (Nov. 2) ... had a season-best 4 total blocks (all assisted) vs. Azusa Pacific (Oct. 19).
2012: Started all 24 matches for the Swords. Had 187 kills and a .211 attack percentage, both third on the team. Finished second with 37 total blocks (six solo and 31 assisted). Also finished third in total points (230.5). Her 22 service aces led the team. Had a season-best 13 kills against Seattle Pacific (Aug. 31). Recorded a season-high of seven total blocks at Dominican (Calif.) on Sept. 8. Her career-high six service aces in a come-from-behind, five-set, win over Dixie State (Sept. 19) was the highest total in the Pacific West Conference.
2011: Started all 23 matches for the Swords. Was first on the team in kills (2.49 per set) and first in points with 2.79 per set. Averaged 2.17 digs per set, fourth for CUH. Was named 2011 Honorable Mention All PacWest.
2010: Started all 23 matches for the Swords. Was second on the team in kills (2.36 per set) and third in points with 2.69 per set. Also averaged 2.95 digs per set, good for third on the Swords.
2009: Redshirted.
High School: Powell enjoyed a stellar high school career at Word of Life Academy. Playing for Coach Lee Ann Satele and the Firebrands, Powell was the 2008-09 ILH Division II Player of the Year and was named to the Honolulu Star-Bulletin Fabulous 15. Crystal was also named to the HHSAA All Tournament Team. Powell was also a member of the 2005 ILH Division II Champions at Word of Life.
Personal: The daughter of Paula and Bill Powell, Crystal was born in Honolulu, Hawai`i. One of three children, Crystal has one brother, Chase, and a sister, Chelsey, who played for the Swords volleyball team from 2005-08. Her hobbies include going to the beach and working out.
