2013 (Senior):  Named to the Pacific West Conference All-Academic Team ... started all 16 matches ... scored only goal of career on Senior Day vs. Hawai'i Pacific (Nov. 9), coming with one minute left in regulation which sent the game into overtime ... attempted 11 shots, eight on goal for a .727 SOG percentage.

2012 (Junior):  Started all 14 matches he played in.  Attempted one shot on goal ... named the team's Most Inspirational player.

2011 (Sophomore):  Started all 16 matches for the Swords in his first year with the program. 

High School:  A soccer standout for the Red Raiders of Bellingham High.  Started at center-midforward.  Was Northwest Second Team All-Conference in 2010 and honorable mention in 2008 and 2009.  A four-year varsity player, Matt was co-captain his senior year and helped his school's team to win their first state title in 2010.
 
Personal: The son of James and Susan Schmidt, Matt was born in Bellevue, Wash. One of two children, Matt has a sister, Ali.  Hobbies include hanging out with friends, surfing, playing tennis, hiking and working out.
