Tim Bross

Tim Bross enters his third season with the Chaminade University men’s basketball program after helping guide the Silverswords to a 16-12 record during the 2017-18 season.

During his second season with the 'Swords, the team was again one of the top scoring squads in the Pacific West Conference as they reached the conference tournament for the second straight year. The squad also was on the plus side of rebounding margin for the first time in four years.

During his first year at Chaminade, the team’s 18-win season was its best mark in three years and included a post-season victory in CUH’s return to the PacWest Conference Tournament. Bross directly oversaw the recruitment and signing of four student-athletes and helped coordinate an improved defense that was nine or fewer points than the previous year. He also managed the skill development of First Team All-PacWest and Maui Jim Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team selection Rohndell Goodwin, whose 20.5 ppg average was 4.5 points more than the previous season and who is currently playing professionally with the Briston Flyers in England.

Bross came to Chaminade after spending 2015-16 as an assistant coach with the Hawaii Pacific University men’s basketball team. It was Bross’ third year overall with the Sharks and helped lead them to a 19- record and fourth consecutive berth in the PacWest Tournament, a feat achieved by just two other conference opponents. Bross coordinated the development of all perimeter players at HPU and served as a mentor to guard Chauncey Orr, who led the Sharks in scoring. He also oversaw Orr’s successful NCAA waiver process to recover a year of eligibility. Orr went on to earn first team all-conference honors the following year as well as the 2017 PacWest Tournament Most Valuable Player. He is currently playing pro basketball in Australia with the Dandenong Rangers

In Bross’ first stint at HPU, he helped lead the team to its first winning season in five years in 2013-14 and HPU’s first Division II post-season victory the same year. During this time, he also assisted in the recruitment and oversaw the development of Justin Long, a transfer from Chaffey College. In his only year with Long, the junior guard was the second-leading scorer in the PacWest at 18.4 ppg along with first team all-conference honors.

In addition to his on-court coaching responsibilities at HPU, Bross’ other responsibilities included recruiting, scheduling, opponent scoring, film breakdown and presentation, fundraising and coordination of the Sharks’ strength and conditioning program.

Between stints at HPU, Bross spent the 2014-15 season with the University of Hawaii-Manoa men’s basketball team, helping them to their best season in 13 years with a 22-13 overall record and an appearance in the Big West Conference Tournament championship game. Bross assisted the program with all administrative duties including operations, oversight of all scouting reports, management of players and staff during pre-game routines, community outreach and the coordination of the men’s basketball program’s first alumni game.

Before joining the collegiate ranks, Bross coached boys’ basketball at Wai‘anae High School. He also started the boys’ basketball program at Wai‘anae Intermediate School in addition to coordinating a variety of interscholastic sports leagues for community youth.

Bross graduated from Gonzaga University with a double major in journalism and political science. The Washington state native earned a Master’s in secondary education from Hawai‘i Pacific University. He resides in Honolulu with his wife, Christa, son, Lee, and daughter, Josie.
