The 2023 season will be the third year for Tony Saffery as an assistant coach for the Chaminade University softball team and will oversee the pitching staff. It is his second stint with the program, returning midway through the 2021 season where he assisted with the pitching staff which posted a 2.97 ERA, the sixth-lowest in school history. The 2022 team had a team ERA of 3.16 which is seventh-lowest all-time.
He was also an assistant for Kent Yamaguchi during the 2009 and '10 seasons.
Saffery was the head coach at Kapolei High School during the 2010s.
