Derric Braziel is in his third year as an assistant coach for the Chaminade University women's basketball team in 2019-20. His duties include assisting with the implementation of the daily schedule, recruiting, player development, film exchange and scouting reports.
In his second year (2018-19), he helped the Silverswords match the program's single-season records for wins with seven while the six victories in the Pacific West Conference were one shy of the team record set during the 2014-15 campaign.
Braziel has Chaminade ties, playing for the men's basketball team during the 2013-14 season under Eric Bovaird. That year, the Silverswords made an improbable run during the 2014 Pacific West Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed, beating three higher seeded opponents, including the No. 1 seed and 11th-ranked California Baptist, to capture the PacWest's automatic bid to the NCAA West Regional.
He transferred to the University of Tampa for the 2014-15 season where he helped the Spartans to an 18-10 mark while earning his Bachelor's degree in Psychology there.
Braziel has been helping to train and develop athletes in all age levels. He is passionate in helping the youth reach their athletic goals but those in life as well.
