The 2018 season marks the first year for Kyle Shimabukuro as Chaminade University women's tennis assistant coach.
Shimabukuro is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and has worked for United State Tennis Association as a lead instructor, league coordinator and mobile tennis instructor for five years (2013-17). He also worked as a tennis specialist at Camp Walt Whitman during the summer of 2017.
He also coached locally at the high school level, coaching with the Pac-Five varsity, junior varsity and intermediate tennis teams from 2012-15.
Shimabukuro played four years of varsity tennis at high school and, during his senior season at Lutheran High School in Honolulu in 2010, played under current Silverswords head coach Ty Aki. Shimabukuro is a 2016 graduate of the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
He is currently employed at the Bank of Hawai'i IT department.
