High School: Attended Bluevale Collegiate Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Schumilas was a two-time regional and county finalist and participated in the provincial championship. Graduated in the top 15% of her class.
Personal: The daughter of Maria Lourdes Schumilas and Dr. Harry Bret Schumilas. Melanies younger brother Bryce plays division two baseball at Truman State. Hobbies include: writing, hanging out and exploring new places. Majoring in Criminal Justice at Chaminade. Biggest inspiration is her grandmother Anastasia Buque.
