  • Title
    Volunteer Team Statistician
Kawika Hasegawa returns to the Chaminade University women's volleyball team and is in his eighth year as a volunteer statistician for the Chaminade University women's volleyball team, helping with the team's statistical analytics.

He was a member of the team's record 27-win season in 2021 before taking the 2022 season off.

In his return to the team in 2023, the Silverswords recorded a record 30 matches, earning the NCAA West Region's No. 1 seed for the first time ever. During the season, Chaminade peaked as high as No. 12 in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, the program's highest national ranking in the Division II era, and finished 13th.

In 2019, he helped guide the Silverswords to a 22-8 record, marking the first-ever back-to-back 20-win seasons for the program with a third-place finish in the Pacific West Conference for the second straight year at 16-6. The year saw senior outside hitter Emma Tecklenburg wrap up her stellar career second in the all-time kills list with 1,292 while junior right-side hitter Rachel Reedy became just the second AVCA All-America in school history.

In 2018, his third year with the program, he helped the 'Swords return to the NCAA West Regional after a 14-year hiatus. The team's 23 wins broke the previous record of 21 (set in 1996) but their 17 PacWest victories are also the most since the team became a member of the conference. With his help, five 'Swords earned All-PacWest honors while Tecklenburg was also named to the D2CCA All-West Region team.

Hasegawa has spent the last seven years as a varsity and junior varsity coach for the Kamehameha-Kapalama girls volleyball team and was also a coach for the Iolani School girls intermediate team for five more prior to his time at Kamehameha. He also coached the club level for the Mauna Lani Volleyball Club. He is currently coaching with the Spike and Serve Volleyball Club.

Hasegawa, a Honolulu native and an alumnus of Iolani, graduated from the University of Denver with Bachelor's degree in Russian Area Studies then earned his Master's in Education Curriculum from Chaminade.
