Jon Stanley is in his first year as an assistant coach for the Chaminade University women's volleyball team.
Prior to arriving at Chaminade, Stanley was coaching extensively locally on O'ahu the previous eight years including five in the high school ranks.
A Honolulu native, Stanley was a member of the BYU men's volleyball squad from 2018-24. After being granted a medical hardship in his first year with the Cougars, he had five playing seasons playing 389 career sets across 99 matches. An outside hitter and defensive specialist, Stanley had his best season during his senior campaign in 2024, setting career highs with 45 kills and 39 digs. During his sophomore year (2021), he helped BYU to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Championships.
A multiple all-league selection at Kaiser High School, Stanley was named the 2018 O'ahu Interscholastic Association's East Division Player of the Year as a senior, helping the Cougars reach the OIA tournament title match and a berth in the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I Championships.
A member of the famed Stanley volleyball family in Hawai'i, his father Jon, Sr., played basketball and volleyball at BYU and, was not only a member the United States Olympic Men's Volleyball Team, was Chaminade's head coach in 1991 where he coached junior outsider hitter Terri Bertulfo, who is the program's career leader in kills and 2024 Chaminade Hall of Fame inductee.
Stanley's two brothers, Wil and Clay, also played volleyball; Wil at BYU and Clay at the University of Hawai'i Manoa with the latter following in his father's footsteps as an Olympian in 2004 and again in 2008 where the USA captured the Gold Medal in the Beijing Olympics.
