The 2024-25 season marks the 12th year for Renee Yuen as head coach for the Chaminade men's golf team. She has served on the NCAA Division II Regional Advisory Committee which helps to select West Region programs into the Super Regionals and served as the chair for the West and South Central Regions in 2022 and 2023.
The Silverswords finished the 2023-24 campaign on an extremely high note, winning the 2024 PGA WORKS Division II Collegiate Championships at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida, to bring home the university's first national title in any sport.
The 'Swords enjoyed record-setting performances in 2016-17. At the Pacific West Conference Championships at Turtle Bay in April 2017, they finished tied for sixth, their highest ever in the championships. Their three-day total of 885 set a program record in a 54-hole event while Michael Milton earned all-tournament honors with a ninth-place finish. Milton's 217 tied the individual school-record for 54 holes which was set earlier in the year by freshman Jeren Nishimoto.
In 2014-15, Yuen's second as head coach, she guided a young 'Swords squad with no seniors to another solid and competitive season. Junior Jarin Harada had a banner year, tallying medalist honors three times, twice during the 2015 championship season which garnered him Pacific West Conference Golfer of the Week honors both times. Harada finished the PacWest Championships in St. George, Utah, seventh overall, the highest finish by a Chaminade golfer in the championship. Harada and freshman R.J. Garczynski culminated the year by being named to the All-PacWest Third Team.
Yuen helped guide the Silverswords to new heights in the sport during her first season in 2013-14. The team won three matches during the 2013-14 season, including the first two matches of her head coaching career. In her first match as head coach during the non-championship fall season, the 'Swords captured the BYU-Hawai'i Tri-Match (Oct. 9) at the Turtle Bay Fazio Course by a resounding 10 shots over runner-up BYUH with JT Trevathan taking medalist honors with a 2-under 70. It was only the second win by a Chaminade team in any match since records were kept in 2005. The following week, the 'Swords repeated the feat, winning the HPU Tri-Match at the Hawai'i Prince Golf Course by seven strokes with Trevathan again taking medalist honors with a 1-under 71.
In the 2014 Pacific West Conference Championships at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, Calif., the Silverswords posted a 941, which at the time, was the best-ever score in the championships by a Chaminade team since the conference went to a three-round format.
The 2013-14 season was highlighted with team captain Spencer Ewart being named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team.
Her teams have also enjoyed academic success with 39 Academic All-PacWest selections since taking over as head coach heading into 2022-23. The 'Swords were also honored with four consecutive Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team awards (2015 to '18) and were granted the honor in 2022, making it seven of eight years.
