Swords Go 1-1 Versus Cotton Blossoms

Feb. 6, 2006

Kailua, HI- In a tale of two games, the Swords were shutout 2-0 in game 2, but not before an offensive explosion in game 1 gave Chaminade a 10-1 victory over Arkansas-Monticello.

Chaminade took care of business in game 1, getting 12 hits good for ten runs in the win. Iwalani and Kehaulani Yamaguchi combined for 4 hits and 5 RBI's, while Michelle Jara, Frances Mabasa and Carolyn Fisher each added 2 hits to the cause. After taking a loss the day before, Marissa Tybor(1-1) bounced back and pitched five strong innings for the win.

In game 2, despite a solid effort from pitcher, Annaliese Moergeli(1-1), the Swords fell 2-0, behind two runs in the second inning for the Cotton Blossoms. Chaminade had some chances, but left 6 runners on base in the loss. Heidi Garcia and Kehaulani Yamaguchi had 2 hits a piece on the game.

The split brings Arkansas-Monticello to 2-3 on the year, and Chaminade to 2-2. The Swords are back in action next Saturday at CORPS to take on Cal-State Stanislaus in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
