Honolulu, HI - In a game that was tight through 3 innings the Blossoms
of Arkansas-Monticello opened it up with 5 runs in the fourth inning and defeated CUH 13-3.
Chaminade did not go down without a fight. The Swords led the game early 1-0 through the first two innings. The Blossoms scored 3 runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead. CUH would not back down, scoring a run in the bottom of the third to bring them back within one with a the 2-3.
The top of the fourth saw the Arkansas-Monticello score 5 runs, proving to be too much for the Swords to come back from. A solo home run in the fifth inning by Fisher was not enough to rally Chaminade. The Swords gave up 5 more runs in the sixth to end the game 13-3.
The Swords swung the bat well as Yamaguchi went two for two at the plate and four others reached base, with Yamaguchi and Sasaki both turning in doubles on the afternoon.
The Blossoms racked up 14 hits on the afternoon with two doubles and a grand slam home run by Rodgers. Gibson went four for four on the afternoon giving her 5 RBI's for the game.
With the loss, Chaminade falls to 0-1 on the year, while Arkansas-Monticello moves to 3-6 with the victory.
Chaminade faces BYU-Hawaii at home for a doubleheader at 5:00pm on February 17th.
