Honolulu, HI- The day was a split for the Lady Swords. After handling the Eagles of Embry Riddle 3-0 earlier in the day, the Swords fell to the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona this evening 19-25, 26-28 and 16-25 in defeat.
Chaminade was again led by junior Courtney Lorusso with 10 kills and 9 digs, but only a .032 hitting percentage. Trina Kauliakamoa added 9 kills in defeat, while setter Tanya Alvino added 25 assists.
CUH was outhit .281 to .133 and out-dug 34-32.
Junior Vanja Radanovic was solid throughout, with 7 kills and 5 blocks.
Cal Poly Pomona was led by Vanessa Williams with 11 kills, while Anne-Marie Hofmans added 8 kills and 11 digs.
The Swords are back in action at 7PM HT tomorrow in McCabe Gym. They face the Lancers of Cal Baptist, a perennial NAIA power (2007 National Runner-Up). With the loss, Chaminade falls to 1-1 on the year. Cal Poly Pomona moves to 1-0.
