Honolulu, HI- Cal Baptist came in as the #2 team in NAIA, but Chaminade clearly came out ready for the challenge. The Swords were one point away from winning game one, but the Lancers answered and never looked back, defeating the Swords 26-24, 25-11, 25-17.
Chaminade was led by junior Trina Kauliakamoa with 11 kills and 7 digs. Tanya Alvino added 20 assists. The service game was all Lancers, as they had 12 service aces on the evening.
CUH was outhit .330 to .179 and out-dug 32-25.
Cal Baptist was led by Colleen Sweeney with 16 kills, while Fei Shi added 13 kills and 5 digs.
The Swords are back in action at 2PM HT tomorrow in McCabe Gym. They face the Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney, ranked #14 in NCAA Division II. With the loss, Chaminade falls to 1-2 on the year. Cal Baptist moves to 6-0.
