Honolulu, HI- The Swords fell at home today to Academy of Art University (located in San Francisco, CA) by a score of 2-0.
Chaminade was without forward Jamie Lindstrom, who has been an explosive offensive threat in early season action. Lindstrom is currently out for an undisclosed amount of time. Without Lindstrom up top, Chaminade struggled to get things going offensively, but battled for ninety minutes. All-conference keeper, Marissa Minor was stellar in goal, and the defense was stout for most of the match.
The Urban Knights managed to capitalize on a few opportunities midway through the first half. Chaminade kept AAU scoreless through the first thirty minutes before two goals in two minutes by Olivia Dupon (32nd minute) and Morgan LeFever (34th minute) opened up a two-goal lead for the Urban Knights.
The second half saw more shots, but no goals on either side. All-conference defender, Marissa Faye tallied two shots on goal for the Swords.
Marissa Minor had six saves in defeat.
With the loss, Chaminade falls to 1-2. AAU moves to 1-4-1 overall. The Lady Swords are back in action in Belmont, CA against Notre Dame de Namur on September 23rd. Game time is set for 1:30 PM PT.
