CUH WSOC: Chaminade Falls Short at UH-Hilo 2-0

Senior Marissa Minor keeps Swords close with 15 saves

Hilo, HI- Chaminade Women's Soccer fell behind early to UH Hilo this afternoon and could not recover, dropping a Pac West conference match to the Vulcans from the Big Island by a final score of 2-0.

The Vulcans got on the board early, as Lauren Minami tallied a goal in the 12th minute for a 1-0 UHH lead. A second Vulcan goal in the 16th minute made it 2-0 at halftime.

Chaminade senior goalkeeper Marissa Minor, (Captain Cook, HI/Konawaena HS) a previous recipient of the Pac West's Women Soccer Player of the Week, proved why she was worthy of the honor, stopping fifteen UH Hilo shots on goal. Minor and the Sword defense did not allow a goal for the final 74 minutes of action.

CUH was out-shot 29-2 on the match. Sophomore Jessica Vork (Cloquet, Minnesota/Cloquet HS) had the lone shot on goal for the Swords.

With the loss, the Swords move to 2-6 overall. UH Hilo improves to 5-6-1. Chaminade is back in action October 16th against NDNU. Game time is set for 3:30 PM HT at St. Louis Field.
