ST. GEORGE, UT- Chaminade couldn't stay up with Dixie State today in a Pac West conference matchup at Hansen Stadium losing by a score of 5-1.
Dixie State scored in the second minute off the foot of Kalehua Harward to take the early 1-0 lead. The Red Storm scored again in the 17
th minute, but Chaminade continued to attack and got a goal off a header by junior
Whitney Williams (Pukalani, HI/St. Anthony's HS) in the 33
rd minute. Freshman
Amber Bonifacio (Ewa Beach, HI/Moanalua HS) had the assist.
Whitney Williams's goal is her second in as many contests. The match went to the half at 2-1 Dixie State.
The Red Storm added three second half goals for the 5-1 home victory.
Chaminade senior goalkeeper
Marissa Minor, (Captain Cook, HI/Konawaena HS) stopped six Red Storm shots on goal on the evening.
CUH was out-shot 21-3 on the match.
Wendy Stratford and Erin Beeston each scored two goals for Dixie in the win.
With the loss, the Swords move to 2-11 (2-9 PWC) overall. Dixie State improves to 9-6 (6-5 PWC). Chaminade faces Dixie State on November 1st in a rematch at Hansen Stadium. Game time is set for 7 PM MT.
