Senior Marissa Minor stops eight shots for Swords

Honolulu, HI- Chaminade Women's Soccer battled against a competitive team from UH Hilo this afternoon, falling to the Vulcans from the Big Island by a final score of 3-0.
 
The Vulcans got on the board early, as Lauren Minami tallied a goal in the 16th minute for a 1-0 UHH lead. A second Vulcan goal in the 29th minute made it 2-0 at halftime.
 
Senior goalkeeper Marissa Minor, (Captain Cook, HI/Konawaena HS) this past week's recipient of the Pac West's Women Soccer Player of the Week, helped keep CUH within striking distance, stopping eight UH Hilo shots on goal.
 
The Swords battled all afternoon but the Vulcans pressed on, adding a goal in the 59th minute for the 3-0 victory. 
 
The Swords were out-shot 26-6 on the match. Freshman Amber Bonifacio (Ewa Beach, HI/Moanalua HS) had two shots on goal for CUH.
 
With the loss, the Swords move to 2-5 overall. UH Hilo improves to 4-5-1. Chaminade is back in action October 13th at UH Hilo. Game time is set for 3:00 PM HT.
