Honolulu, HI-Another Chaminade-HPU battle, another raucous crowd in McCabe Gym. The Swords and Sea Warriors battled for three sets with HPU taking the first two hotly contested sets 25-23 and 25-20. Chaminade struggled in the third set and the Sea Warriors took advantage, winning 25-15 to complete the sweep in the conference opener for both teams.
Freshman
Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) also added 6 kills to go along with 13 digs. CUH sophomore
Kylee Pedro (Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific) had five kills in the loss.
Senior setter
Tanya Alvino, Brentwood, CA/Liberty, (who was honored in between the second and third sets for being named the 2009-10 Pac West Women's Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year) had 17 assists and 5 digs on the match.
Junior
Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) was impressive defensively, digging 16 Sea Warrior attacks on the night. The Swords lost the overall dig battle 55-65. Chaminade was outhit by HPU .173 to .000.
Hawaii Pacific was led by outside hitter Natasha Bell with 13 kills.
With the loss, Chaminade moves to 3-5. The Sea Warriors move to 7-1. The Swords are back in action next Saturday, September 25th at 7:00 PM HT in the Cannon Center. Chaminade will face the Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii in Pac West Conference action.
