Laie, HI- Swords Volleyball lost at BYU-Hawaii in three sets, 13-25, 19-25, 14-25 at the Cannon Activities Center last night.
The Swords came out strong early on, leading 8-6 in the opening set before the Seasiders went on an 11-1 run to take the lead for good. Chaminade was led by freshman Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) with five kills on the match.
Junior Kristy Inamasu (Kahului, HI/Maui) had 12 digs in defeat. CUH lost the dig battle 34-43. The Seasiders out-hit the Silverswords .239 to .027.
Senior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) finished with 18 assists for CUH. Senior Pisila Tukia (Tempe, AZ/Tempe) added 7 kills in the loss.
Chaminade lost the battle of hitting percentage .034 to .206.
BYU-Hawaii was led by Julia Becker and Lauren Hagemeyer with 10 kills each.
With the loss, Chaminade move to 3-6, 0-2 in the Pac West. BYU-Hawaii moves to 5-4, 2-0 in the Pac West. The Swords are back in action at UH-Hilo on October 2nd at 7PM HT.
