CUH WSOC: Swords Come Up Short Against HPU, Lose 4-0

Makua leads with eight saves

HONOLULU, HI- The Swords took on the first place Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific this morning at St. Louis Field and fell by a score of 4-0.           
 
The Sea Warriors scored in the 43rd minute with a goal by Kaua Wall to take a 1-0 lead at the half after a competitive first half of action.  HPU won the first half shot count, 9-3.
 
Hawaii Pacific's Meghan Fuller added goals in the 59th and 68th minutes in the second half to make the score 3-0.
 HPU added an insurance goal on a penalty kick by Sanoe Souza for the 4-0 final.
 
Freshman Savannah Clements (Santa Rosa, CA/Ursuline) led the way for CUH with one shot on goal.
 
Freshman Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 8 shots for CUH.  The Swords were out-shot 16-4 on the match.  
 
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-11, 1-6 in conference.  Hawaii Pacific improves to 8-2-2, 5-1-2.  Chaminade is back in action on October 15th at St. Louis Field.  Match time is set for 1:00 PM HT against Cal Baptist.
