HONOLULU, HI- The Swords took on the second place Lancers of Cal Baptist this afternoon at St. Louis Field and lost 4-0.
The Lancers scored in the 23rd minute with a goal by Kylee Nicassio to take a 1-0 lead. Fabiola da Silva added a goal in the 41
st minute for a 2-0 lead for CBU. Cal Baptist, playing with the strong wind at their backs, won the first half shot count, 10-0.
The second half saw some renewed energy from the Swords as the wind that was against them in the first half, was at CUH's backs for the second half. The first twenty minutes of the half saw no scoring, but both teams had opportunities. Cal Baptist eventually found the back of the net as Lindsay Vesling scored in the 66
th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Kylee Nicassio tallied another goal for CBU in the 72
nd minute to make it a four goal cushion.
Freshman
Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 7 shots for CUH. The Swords were out-shot 20-6 on the match.
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-12, 1-7 in conference. Cal Baptist improves to 9-1-1, 5-0-1. Chaminade is back in action on October 22
nd at St. Louis Field. Match time is set for 1:00 PM HT against Dixie State.
