CUH WSOC: Swords Drop Conference Match at HPU 4-0

Makua stops eight shots for Swords

KANEOHE, HI- The Swords fell to the Sea Warriors of HPU by a score of 4-0 at Atherton Field this afternoon in Pac West Conference action.          
 
HPU's KaUa Wall stole the show scoring all four Sea Warrior goals on the way to the four goal victory.  Wall scored in the 16th, 38th, 78th and 87th minutes of action for Hawaii Pacific.
 
The Swords were out-shot 9-1 in the opening half, but rallied in the second half, managing five shots in the second forty-five minutes.  CUH did create chances as sophomore Kristy Iwahashi (Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) challenged the HPU goalkeeper, Carianne Makino, and forced a save.    
 
Coach Ula Rowe, sees opportunity in defeat. “We are creating chances.  It's slowly coming together.  We're not there yet, but we have opportunities.  Now we have to finish them.”
 
Freshman Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 8 shots for CUH.  The Swords were out-shot 17-6 on the match.  
 
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-9, 1-5 in conference.  Hawaii Pacific improves to 7-2-1, 5-1-1 in conference.  Chaminade is back in action on October 8th at home on St. Louis Field.  Match time is set for 1:00 PM HT.  SAAC is sponsoring a BBQ for all Chaminade students.  Bring your Chaminade ID and where white and blue!
