HONOLULU, HI- The Swords took on the undefeated Seasiders of BYU-Hawaii this afternoon at St. Louis Field and fell by a score of 3-1.
The Seasiders scored in the 16
th minute with a goal by Natalie Drewery to take a 1-0 lead at the half after a competitive first half of action. BYU-Hawaii dominated the first half shot count, 11-0.
BYU-Hawaii added another goal just minutes into the second half to make the score 2-0.
Chaminade looked to answer as freshman
Shannon Wright (Huntington, CA/Edison) hit the crossbar in the 53
rd minute for CUH. The Swords stayed on the attack searching to draw closer to the Seasiders, but BYU-Hawaii added an insurance goal as Rylei North scored in the 72 minute.
The Swords stayed aggressive and got on the board with a free kick goal by freshman
Savannah Clements (Santa Rosa, CA/Ursuline) in the 74
th minute to make the score 3-1. The match heated up following the Chaminade goal, but neither team could find another score and the match finished up 3-1 BYU-Hawaii.
Freshman
Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 5 shots for CUH. The Swords were out-shot 16-6 on the match.
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-10, 1-5 in conference. BYU-Hawaii improves to 7-0-1, 3-0-1. Chaminade is back in action on October 13th at St. Louis Field. Match time is set for 10:00 AM HT against Hawaii Pacific.
