Box Score HONOLULU, HI- The Swords ran into a focused Alaska-Anchorage team tonight and fell in three sets to the Seawolves (12-25, 17-25 and 14-25).
Junior
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had 6 kills and 9 digs in defeat. Sophomore
Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) added 7 kills. The Swords won the dig battle 28-27.
The Seawolves took control early winning the first set handily 25-12. The Swords showed life in the second set, hitting .120 on the set, but UAA managed to answer, winning the second set 25-17.
Alaska-Anchorage won the final set 25-14 to earn the victory.
Coach Brown commented, “The coaches were nervous in warm-ups as we weren't moving our feet and it showed a little bit tonight. It was a humbling experience…a rude awakening for us, but that's ok. We will take it into practice on Monday and make some adjustments.
The Swords move to 1-1 after the weekend split. Chaminade is back in action on September 1st in McCabe Gym. CUH will face Seattle Pacific at 7:30 PM HT. Alaska Anchorage improves to 2-2.
