HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade faced the Vulcans of UH-Hilo in a non-conference matchup this afternoon and fell in a physical match, 2-1.
The Swords got off to a sluggish start and UH-Hilo's Kristine Pasek took advantage in the 28
th minute, scoring on a free kick for a 1-0 Vulcan advantage. Hilo took the 1-0 lead into the break.
Chaminade responded early in the second half as freshman
Savannah Clements (Santa Rosa, CA/Ursuline) put a header in the back of the net to knot the match at 1-1. Freshman forward Kaitlyn Powell (Kerrville, TX/Tivy) played a great ball into Clements and was credited with the assist for the Swords.
The Vulcans answered in the 75
th minute with a goal by Emily Cadiz for the 2-1 victory.

Kainoa Makua (Kailua, HI/Kalaheo) stopped 5 shots for CUH.
The Swords were out-shot 14-5.
With the loss, the Swords move to 1-4, 1-0 in conference. Hawaii-Hilo improves to 2-3, 0-2. Chaminade is back in action on September 24
th at home on St. Louis Field. The Swords face Grand Canyon at 1:00 PM HT.
