HONOLULU, HI- The Swords faced the Seawolves of Sonoma State this morning and fell in three sets: 15-25, 13-25 and 11-25.
Sonoma State came out and took the offensive in the first set with a hitting percentage of .600 and didn't look back, taking the first set 25-15 and winning set two 25-13 and set three 25-11.
Sophomore
Crystal Powell (Honolulu, HI/Word of Life) led the way offensively for Chaminade with 7 kills. Middle blocker
Poerava Gantt (Kapaa, HI/Kapaa) had six kills with a hitting percentage of .120 for CUH.
Junior
Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had 4 kills and 10 digs in defeat for Chaminade.
Senior setter
Kristina Donathan (Honolulu,HI/St. Andrew's Priory) contributed 18 assists and 8 digs.
The Swords lost the dig battle 36-34. The Seawolves had a hitting percentage of .413 to .105 for CUH
SSU was led by Keala Peterson with 13 kills on a .448 hitting percentage.
The Swords fall to 1-4 with the loss. Chaminade is back in action tonight, September 3rd in McCabe Gym. CUH will face UCSD at 7:30 PM HT. Sonoma State improves to 2-1.
