CUH WSOC: Chaminade Taken Down by Cougars of Azusa Pacific 7-0

Ishii leads Swords with 24 saves

Box Score AZUSA, CA- The Silverswords have one more chance to earn a road win on this trip after losing to the Cougars of Azusa Pacific this evening 7-0 at the Cougar Soccer Complex. 
 
Twenty minutes in and the score 0-0, Chaminade was able to keep the Cougars at bay.  APU broke the scoreless tie in the 24th minute and tallied two more goals prior to the break to lead 3-0 at halftime. 
 
The Cougars tallied four more goals in the second half, earning the 7-0 PacWest Conference victory.   
 
Freshman Alex Ishihara (Fullerton, CA/ Sunny Hills) and junior Kristy Iwahashi (Pearl City, HI /Pearl City) each tallied a shot for Chaminade.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Ishii (Mililani, HI/Mililani) was busy in goal for CUH, stopping 24 shots. 
 
The Swords were out-shot 48-2 on the match.  
 
Coach Rowe discussed the defeat: “We need to continue to not be afraid of working hard all the time.  Once we can accomplish this consistently, we will get better results.  With one more game left, we have to finish strong on the road with a good quality game so we can finish strong at home.”
 
With the loss, the Swords fall to 0-10, 0-8 PWC.  APU moves to 7-5, 6-2 PWC on the year.  Chaminade is back in action at Point Loma Nazarene on October 13th.  The match is set for 1:30 PM PT.
