CUH WSOC: Chaminade Falls to First Place Sea Lions 6-1

Hamasaki notches goal for Swords

Box Score SAN DIEGO, CA- CUH ended their mainland road trip today, falling to the Sea Lions of Point Loma Nazarene by a score of 6-1 in PacWest Conference action.
 
The Sea Lions got on the board in the 3rd minute, but did not score again for the remainder of the first half and led CUH 1-0 at the break.  PLNU managed 8 shots in the first half, while Chaminade managed 1.
 
Early on in the second half Point Loma Nazarene took control of the match.  Starting with a goal in the 50th minute and concluding with a goal by Heather Cady in the 59th minute, PLNU went on a five-goal run to put the match away. 
 
Chaminade did not quit, as a penalty kick goal by freshman Twyla Hamasaki (Honolulu, HI/Iolani) in the 82nd minute helped the Swords avoid the shutout.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Ishii (Mililani, HI/Mililani) made 6 saves on the match for CUH.
 
The Swords were out-shot 21-5 on the match.  
 
Coach Rowe discussed the loss: “Playing the conference's #1 team was tough for us. We had a decent first half, but the second half we fell apart. We need to be able to put a complete game together so that we can finish the season strong.  We have some winnable games coming up.”
 
With the loss, the Swords fall to 0-11, 0-9 PWC.  PLNU moves to 10-2-1, 8-1-1 PWC on the year.  Chaminade is back in action at home against HPU on October 17th.  The match is set for 12:30 PM HT.
