CUH WSOC: Chaminade Downed by HPU 6-1

Hamasaki notches early goal for Swords

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- CUH battled Hawaii Pacific in a PacWest Conference matchup on St. Louis Field and lost 6-1.
 
Chaminade was aggressive early, scoring in the fourth minute as freshman Twyla Hamasaki (Honolulu, HI/Iolani) put away a pass from Alyssa Nagai (Waipio, HI/Pearl City) to lead 1-0 early on. 
 
HPU scored three goals in the 11th, 18th and 21st minutes to regain control of the contest.  Hawaii Pacific notched another goal in the 34th minute to lead 4-1 at halftime.  The Sea Warriors led the first half shot count 13-1. 
 
HPU tallied another goal in the 74th minute from Sanoe Souza to extend the lead to 5-1. The Sea Warriors tallied another goal in the 85th minute for a 6-1 final. 
 
Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Ishii (Mililani, HI/Mililani) made 9 saves on the match for CUH.
 
The Swords were out-shot 22-5 on the match.  

Coach Rowe commented after the loss: "We had a great goal to take the lead, but we couldn't keep it together.  We have to be able to play a full ninety minutes to get a result and we are just not there yet.  We have four more games left to get a result and we have to be able to get one."
 
With the loss, the Swords fall to 0-12, 0-10 PWC.  HPU moves to 5-7-1, 4-4-1 PWC on the year.  Chaminade is back in action on the road at UH-Hilo on October 20th.  The match is set for 3:00 PM HT.
