Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade were defeated by the Seawolves of Sonoma State 15-25, 20-25 and 24-26 on the third day of the 2012 Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Invitational this morning in McCabe Gym.
Chaminade struggled early, losing the first set 25-15, earning only 9 kills in the set. Sonoma State continued their strong performance in set two, earning a 25-20 win behind a team hitting percentage of .257. The Swords rebounded in the third set as the offense really got going. CUH hit .385 in the third and final set, but it wasn't enough as the Seawolves matched Chaminade point for point and won the match with a 26-24 third set victory.

Crystal Powell led the Swords with 8 kills, while freshman outside hitter
Kim Spring (Bern, Switzerland/ Feusi Bildungszentrum and Feusi Sportschule) added 10 digs to lead Chaminade in that category.
Setter freshman
Valentina Bevilacqua (Vacallo, Switzerland/Scuola Cantonale di Commercio Bellinzona) contributed 16 assists for CUH.
Chaminade had 25 digs on the match while Sonoma State had 40. The Seawolves hit .391 for the match while the Silverswords hit .289 on the contest.
The Seawolves were led by Madelyn Densberger and Allyson Sather with 12 kills.
Coach Kahala Kabalis commented after the match: “We had to make some adjustments in our lineup and gave some other people an opportunity to play.
Matia Spencer came up big for us on the outside, pounding seven kills on a great hitting percentage. I think this was a good test for us. We had to work through fatigue from the previous two evenings of intense matches. I asked the players to get a few hours rest, in hopes for an exciting match this evening.”
The Swords move to 1-2 (0-0 PWC) with the loss. Sonoma State improves to 2-1. Chaminade is back in action on Saturday evening as the Swords take on Fresno Pacific. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT.
