Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took on the Vulcans of UH-Hilo at home for the second time in ten days, this time in a conference matchup between the two squads.
The Vulcans got on the board midway through the first half, with two goals in the 25
th and 28
th minutes. Brianne Lopiccolo scored the first goal, with an assist from Kristine Pasek and the two switched roles in the 28
th minute, with Pasek tallying the goal and Lopiccolo scoring.
Chaminade was undeterred, as freshman
Twyla Hamasaki (Honolulu, HI/Iolani) scored on a penalty kick in the 30
th minute to cut the lead in half, 2-1. The Vulcans out-shot the Swords 11-6 in the first half of action.
Pasek scored again for UH-Hilo in the 56
th minute to make the score 3-1 Vulcans. Lopiccolo assisted on the goal. UHH added another goal in the 61
st minute to make it 4-1. The Swords responded, as
Alyssa Nagai (Waipio, HI/Pearl City) scored in the 77
th minute off a pass from KeKe Powell (Kerrville, TX/Tivy).
Hilo continued the scoring as Pasek earned a hat-trick in the 79
th minute to make the score 5-2 Vulcans. A UHH score with seconds left made the final 6-2 Vulcans.
Freshman
Lauren Ishii (Mililani, HI/Mililani) stopped 6 shots for CUH.
The Swords were out-shot 22-11 on the match.
With the loss, the Swords fall to 0-4, 0-2 PWC. Hawaii-Hilo moves to 3-2, 1-1 PWC on the year. Chaminade is back in action against Hawaii Pacific on September 22nd in Kaneohe, HI. The match is set for 3:00 PM HT.
