CUH WSOC: Swords Fall to UH-Hilo 5-1

Hosaka scores second half goal for Chaminade

Box Score HONOLULU, HI- Chaminade took on UH-Hilo this afternoon, dropping a 5-1 decision to the Vulcans on St. Louis Field.  UH-Hilo got on the scoreboard in the 25th minute on a rebound goal by Kristine Pasek.  The Vulcans Pasek added another goal just minutes later to go ahead 2-0 in the first half. Gina Tumasone added a third first half goal in the 38th minute to make it 3-0 Hilo. 
 
The Vulcans out-shot the Swords11-0 in the opening half. 
 
Chaminade's offense improved in the second half, tallying 6 shots, 5 on goal.  Freshman midfielder Twyla Hamasaki (Honolulu, HI/Iolani) tallied four shots on goal in the second half for CUH. 
 
The Vulcans Gina Tumasone added her second goal for UHH in the 65th minute to make the score 4-0.  Chaminade continued to press the Vulcans defense in the late moments of the contest.  Junior midfielder Shayla Hosaka (Kaneohe, HI/Castle) got the Swords on the board in the 75th minute off an assist by Hamasaki. 
 
A UHH goal in the 80th minute made the final score 5-1. 
 
Freshman Lauren Ishii (Mililani, HI/Mililani) stopped 8 shots for CUH.  The Swords were out-shot 22-6 on the match.  
 
With the loss, the Swords fall to 0-2.  UH-Hilo moves to 2-1 on the year.  Chaminade is back in action on September 15th at 3PM HT at BYU-Hawaii.
