Box Score SAN RAFAEL, CA–Chaminade earned a much-needed road win with an impressive performance over PacWest Conference foe Dominican 90-63 in the Conlan Center.
Freshman forward
Kevin Hu (Taipei, Taiwan/Songsan) had an impactful first half and combined with senior guard
Waly Coulibaly (Bamako, Mali/Patterson Prep), the duo went 6-7 from the floor and 5-5 from three in the first twenty minutes. Hu had 15 points while Coulibaly added 8 points in the half. Despite the strong performance early on, Chaminade did not lead at the start of the game.
CUH was trailing 17-14 with 14:14 left in the first half, but the Swords then went on an offensive scoring binge, outscoring the Penguins 17-5 over the next five minutes to lead 31-19 with 9:20 left. Chaminade continued its impressive play and extended the lead at the half to twenty-one points at 46-25. Dominican never recovered.
CUH senior guard
Bennie Murray (Fairfield, CA/ Will C. Wood) also was on the offensive in the first half, scoring 13 points to go along with 4 rebounds.
The Silverswords forced 14 first half turnovers while only committing 7. CUH also out-rebound DUC in the first half, 17-15.
Chaminade continued their impressive offensive output and led by thirty points 75-45 following a made
Bennie Murray jumper halfway through the second half. The Swords cruised from there to a 90-63 win.
Senior guard De'Andre Haskins (Long Beach, CA/Jordan) helped by a strong second half, finished with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Haskins led Chaminade is scoring while four other CUH players had double figures.

Kevin Hu tallied 18 and
Waly Coulibaly added 15 points in the win. Senior
Dominique Cooks (Wollongong, AUS/Holy Spirit) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in victory. Hu and Coulibaly finished 8-11 from three on the contest. As a team, the Swords were 11-26 from three and shot 50% from the floor (31-62).
Dominican (CA) was led by Dominique Taplin with 20 points.
Coach Bovaird recapped the road win: “I thought we have never looked better offensively. The guys were unselfish with the basketball and defense has been our focus lately. The team really picked up their intensity and court presence. I'm really proud of how we performed on both ends of the court.”
The Swords move to 8-8 on the year and 5-3 in the PacWest with the win. Dominican goes to 8-7 and 4-3 in the PacWest on the year in defeat. Chaminade is back in action at NDNU in PacWest Conference action on Thursday, January 24th. Tip is set for 7:30 PM PT in Gleason Gym in Belmont, CA.
