HONOLULU – After losing 10 players, including eight seniors from last season, Chaminade University men's basketball head coach
Eric Bovaird announced Monday the 12 newcomers to join with the three returnees to form the revamped 2026-27 Silverswords.
Logi Gudmundsson is a freshman from Kopavogur, Iceland. The 6-foot-6 forward was a member of Breidablik Kopavogur in the Icelandic Division I League and was also a member of several youth national teams with Iceland. Gudmundsson shined at the 2025 FIBA U18 EuroBasket Division B tournament, finishing seventh in the Most Valuable Player voting after averaging 15 points on 49.3 percent shooting while pulling down 6.8 rebounds per game.
Kanaan Holder is a transfer from fellow NCAA Division II member University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The 6-5 wing helped the Lions to a 20-9 mark in 2025-26, averaging 8.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Prior to UAFS, Holder spent two seasons at Angelina College in Texas where he earned All-NJCAA honors. Holder will have one year of athletic eligibility at Chaminade.
Marcus Jackson II is a freshman from Urbana High School in Urbana, Illinois. The 5-10 guard earned All-Big 12 league honors during his sophomore year.
Nate Law is a transfer from NAIA power Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Last season, the 6-6 forward was a key reserve member for the Eagles' 30-win squad, seeing action in just a shade under 10 minutes per game, one of the top five reserve players for OWU, shooting 52.5 percent from the floor.
Sebastian Peterson is the lone local product as a freshman from Seabury Hall on Maui. A two-time all-state and All-Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) first team selection helped guide the Spartans to their first-ever Hawai'i High School Athletic Association championship in boys basketball in 2025, earning all-tournament team honors. Peterson also was named to the 202 6HHSAA All-Tournament Team which included a 38-point outburst in Seabury's semifinal win against Pahoa.
Ryan Raad is a transfer from the College of Southern Nevada where he was one of the top scorers and 3-point shooters in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), posting 17.1 points per game while making 61 triples on the season. The incoming junior is also a member of the Iran National Team and is listed as one of FIBA's starts to watch in the World Cup Asian Qualifiers next summer.
Kanyon Rice comes to the Silverswords as a transfer from Yuba College where he was named the Bay Valley Conference MVP, helping the Miners capture two conference titles. The 6-3 guard was also named first team all-state and was selected to the NABC CCCAA All-America Team this past season.
Sam Sivulich is a transfer from Snow College in Utah where he helped the Badgers to a 29-5 mark in 2025-26 and the No. 1 national ranking in the NJCAA poll for much of the season. The 6-0 incoming junior excelled as a distributor at 4.3 assists per game while posting a 4.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Casey Steadmon is a crosstown transfer from Hawai'i Pacific University and saw action in 19 games a year ago. In the top performance in his collegiate career, the 6-5 guard went off against Menlo College this past January, exploding for 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and three steals. The Louisville, Kentucky native has two seasons of athletic eligibility remaining.
Paul Stupperich is a freshman from Trier, Germany. After graduating from high school in 2024, the 6-6 guard played for the Gladiators Trier in the German Pro A League in 2024-25 then for BIS Baskets Speyer in the German Pro B League last year.
Mihael Tomic is a transfer from Division I University of Incarnate Word in Texas, playing in 23 games last year. The 6-9 sophomore forward averaged over seven minutes per game and in the Cardinals' Feb. 21 matchup against East Texas A&M, pulled down eight rebounds in 28 minutes.
Zion Young is a transfer from Lamar State College Port Arthur, a JUCO in Texas where he earned All-Region 14 honors after posting averages of 16.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while starting 30 games. The 6-4 junior guard also knocked down 72 3-pointers at a 43.1 percent clip this past season.
The 12 newcomers will try to offset the loss of over 99 percent of the team's scoring and rebounding from last season.
The 'Swords open the season on Friday, Oct. 30 against the University of Tampa in the Hoops in Hawai'i Tipoff Classic at McCabe Gymnasium, an eight-team field which will be in a true tournament format with victors advancing to the winners bracket while losers will be in the consolation round.
The remainder of the 2026-26 schedule will be released in early September.
