WSOC: Chaminade Falls at UH-Hilo, 4-1

Three second half goals in six minutes doom Swords

Hamasaki (15) accounted for the Swords' only goal vs UH-Hilo
Box Score HILO, Hawai'i – The Chaminade women's soccer team remained winless in 2013 after dropping a 4-1 decision Saturday to Hawai'i-Hilo at UH-Hilo Baseball Field.

The Swords fell to 0-3 on the season. The Vulcans improved to 3-0-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Vulcans struck early and often in the early stages of the second.  A Kristine Pasek goal three minutes into the second frame opened the scoring. Just over a minute later, UH-Hilo got its second score on a Lauren Grace-Finley goal after receiving a pass from Danalynne Llacuna. The Vulcans added their third goal at the 54-minute mark when Lindsey Poulson found the back of the net on a breakaway.

The Silverswords finally broke the ice at the 78th minute when Twyla Hamasaki made a successful penalty kick. It was Hamasaki's first goal of the year and also the Swords' first this season.

The Vulcans outshout the Silverswords, 12-2, in the match and had a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. UH-Hilo goalkeeper Jenna Hufford picked up the win while CUH's Lauren Ishii took the loss.

The Swords return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they play Hawai'i Pacific in a non-conference tilt at HPU's Atherton Field. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
