WSOC: Swords fall at HPU, 2-0

Box Score

KANEOHE, Hawai'i – For the second consecutive game, a bad stretch of minutes proved costly to the Chaminade women's soccer team.

On Saturday, a six-minute stretch to open the second half saw Hawai'i-Hilo net three goals. Tuesday at Atherton Field, the Silverswords allowed a pair of goals to Hawai'i Pacific in a span of two minutes, as Chaminade ended non-conference play, dropping the Swords to 0-4. The Sea Warriors improved to 2-1.

HPU was on the offensive throughout the first half with 16 shot attempts, but the Silverswords held their own as the game was scoreless with Lauren Ishii keeping CUH in the game with six first half saves. But with only 30 seconds left in the first half, the Sea Warriors broke through on Ashlyn Ubongen's goal.

HPU would net their second goal only a minute into the second half when Lexi Cameau found the top left corner of the goal from 18 yards out.

The Swords would outshoot HPU, 4-3, in the second half, but none of them hit paydirt. The Sea Warriors held the advantage in corner kicks, 7-2, while CUH was called for being offside four times to none for HPU.

Chaminade opens Pacific West Conference action on Saturday when it hosts UH-Hilo at St. Louis Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
