BELMONT, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's soccer team opened their second and final Mainland road trip of the season, dropping a 3-1 decision at Notre Dame de Namur Thursday.
Colton Gallt scored the Silverswords' lone goal, a header on a feed from
James Meaney to open the scoring 13 minutes into the contest. It was Gallt's second goal of the season while Meaney got his second assist. Gallt's eight points on the year ties him with
Austin Bush for the team lead.
But the Argonauts (8-5-1 overall, 6-2 Pacific West Conference) struck back 29 minute later on a header by Joseph Sorensen, knotting the game at 1 going into the half.
The Argos then took the lead in the 65
th minute on a Nicholas Nguyen goal.
The 'Swords (3-9, 2-6) attempted a flurry of shots to tie the game, but were denied by NDNU tender Jay Tsuruoka. The Argos also took several shots in an attempt to ice the game, but Silverswords net minder
Rene Mejia made three saves down the stretch.
The Argos added an insurance goal with just over two minutes left to play.
Chaminade attempted 13 shots to NDNU's 19. Four were on-goal to the Argos' 11. Corner kicks were even at four. Mejia made eight saves on the day while Tsuruoka had three.
The 'Swords conclude their road trip Saturday at Academy of Art.
