Women’s Soccer Ends Season with Loss to BYUH

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team ended the 2014 season with a 2-0 loss to BYU-Hawai'i at Saint Louis Field on Saturday.

The Silverswords concluded the year at 3-11-1 overall and 3-8-1 in the Pacific West Conference.

Katie Orchard had the game-winning goal for the Seasiders (4-13, 3-9) in the 62nd minute then McKenzie Evans added an insurance score just three minutes later.

Despite finishing the year on down note, the Silverswords accomplished several positives which have the program poised to reach the upper echelons of the PacWest Conference in coming years. Not only did they win the program's first-ever Mainland road game, they also set a team record for wins in a season.

Chaminade keeper Lauren Ishii, who for the third straight year played every minute in front of the net, made five saves in defeat. The win went to Daniela Chacon who improved to 3-6.

Nicole Nishiki took four shots, three on goal. Twyla Hamasaki took the remaining one for the Swords.

The Seasiders barely outshot the Swords in the game, 10-9, while Chaminade made five total saves to BYUH's four. The game was also chippy in the second half as the teams combined for three yellow cards. The Seasiders were also called for 20 fouls.

The game also marked the final contest in the careers of Chaminade seniors Roni Hewett, Alyssa Nagai, Christina Saturnio and Shannon Wright.
