HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team continues to search for their first win of the season after suffering a 2-1 setback to Academy of Art in a Pacific West Conference game Thursday at Saint Louis Field.
After the Urban Knights (4-2-1 overall, 2-1 PacWest) scored the game's opening goal by Alex Walsh in the 13
th minute, the Silverswords (0-5, 0-2) countered just over a minute later when
Guilherme Aires skidded a ground ball past an ART U defender and goalkeeper into the net to square the game. It was Aires' first career goal.
The contest remained a 1-all deadlock until the 72
nd minute when the Urban Knights' Jordan Seech fired the ball into the goal for the eventual game-winner.
ART U attempted 14 shots to the 'Swords nine.
Nicolas Ferro attempted four shots for Chaminade while
Giovanni Reader took two.
Bernd Buescherhoff made his return in front of the net for the first time in two weeks but took the loss. Kevin Mendez earned the win for the Urban Knights.
Chaminade will complete its season-opening seven-match home stand Saturday against Notre Dame de Namur at Saint Louis Field.
