HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team battled but in the end, could not overcome Hawai'i-Hilo, falling 1-0 in overtime Thursday at Saint Louis Field.
Tiera Arakawa scored the game's only goal nine minutes into overtime.
It was the Vulcans first win of the season, improving to 1-0-1 on the season while the Silverswords fell to 1-2. The contest between the two Pacific West Conference foes was a non-conference match so the records did not count in the league standings.
Jenna Hufford picked up the win in front of the net for Hilo while
Lauren Ishii was tagged with the loss.
Ishii made a season-high 11 saves on the day while
Twyla Hamasaki attempted five shots for the 'Swords. Danica Steele came off the bench and took a game-high six shots for UH-Hilo.
Chaminade is scheduled to play at Hawai'i Pacific in a non-conference game this Saturday.
