Men’s Soccer Blanked by Fresno Pacific

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team opened the Pacific West Conference season Saturday, falling to Fresno Pacific 4-0 at Saint Louis Field.

The Silverswords fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the PacWest while the Sunbirds improved to 4-1-1 and 1-0.

Joey Belzil netted a hat trick for FPU, scoring his team's first four goals of the game.

FPU held a 1-0 halftime lead before the skies opened up to start the second half, which was played in a driving rain storm. Both teams played on the slippery field but it was the Sunbirds who were able to take advantage of conditions.

Alex Guillen picked up the win for the Sunbirds to improve to 2-2. Rene Mejia absorbed the loss for the 'Swords to fall to 0-3.

Chaminade returns to PacWest play Thursday to face Academy of Art at Saint Louis Field.
