HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's soccer team fell in their Pacific West Conference opener 2-0 Saturday at Saint Louis Field.
Amid a driving rainstorm and winds that made the rain fall sideways, the Silverswords surrendered single goals in both halves as they fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The Sunbirds improved to 3-2 and 1-0.
Bianka Garcia opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 22
nd minute. The game remained 1-0 when Fresno Pacific added an insurance goal in the 69
th minute on a goal from Rachelle Schiller.
Lauren Ishii made five saves in taking the loss to fall to 1-4. FPU's Selena Braun got the win to improve to 2-2.
The Silverswords will continue PacWest play Thursday when they face Academy of Art at Saint Louis Field.
